The Amish community in Michigan is in mourning after seven died on the same day in two separate crashes 86 miles apart in the central part of the state.

The Amish typically rely on horse-drawn buggies for transportation and do not operate their own cars or trucks but will ride in vehicles driven by people who are not Amish.

Six Amish buggy riders were taken to a hospital – one with critical injuries – after a sport utility vehicle struck a buggy in Van Buren County.
