Jurors convicted a Southern California judge of second-degree murder on Tuesday for fatally shooting his wife while the couple argued and watched television at home.

Judge Jeffrey Ferguson of Orange County Superior Court faces 40 years to life for murdering his wife, Sheryl Ferguson, in August 2023, prosecutors said.

The fate of an Orange County Superior Court judge who shot and killed his wife during an argument at their Anaheim Hills home is once again in the hands of a jury, a little more than a month after his first murder trial ended with an earlier panel of jurors deadlocked.
