COLCHESTER, Vt. ( WCAX /Gray News) - A homeowner and their dog died in a Christmas Day house fire in Vermont. The Colchester Fire Chief said Wednesday around 3:45 a.m., crews got a call about a house fire. When they arrived, at least half of the home was on fire and the roof started caving in, according to the fire chief.

The 37-year-old ensured that his family were saved from the early-morning fire, but fell unconscious after returning to the house.
