The Board of Regents approved Iowa State’s request to enter into a 30-year development agreement with Goldenrod Companies, paving the way for the construction of eight new buildings in the CYTown development zone.

Conversations about what the CyTown development in Ames will look like can begin in earnest now following Wednesday’s approval by the Iowa Board of Regents of a 30-year development agreement with Iowa State University,

The Board of Regents on Wednesday approved a 30-year development agreement between Iowa State University, Goldenrod Companies and the Iowa State Research Park to operate and construct eight buildings as anchors of the still-in-progress CYTown development.

The Board of Regents approved an agreement for Iowa State University Wednesday for developing property between the Iowa State Center and Jack Trice Stadium. ISU attorney Michael Norton told the Regents the Goldenrod Companies will handle the CyTown development.

The Iowa Board of Regents gave Iowa State University the go-ahead Wednesday to move forward with its CyTown plans, approving a 30-year development agreement and lease agreement. ISU General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer Michael Norton told board members the agreements were “fundamental” to seeing the project progress.

The Iowa Board of Regents gave its blessing to the next phase of building the CyTown complex between Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum.

The 30-year agreement allows Iowa State University, ISU Research Park and Goldenrod Companies to move forward with the $200 million entertainment development.
