Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) stock climbed over 3% in mid-day trading Friday after CEO Jensen Huang announced he would not attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week. Instead, he plans to be “on the road” to celebrate the Lunar New Year with his employees and their families.

Nvidia Corp CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) is expected to miss the inauguration of US president-elect Donald Trump on Monday, bucking a trend among high-profile US technology leaders. Huang is visiting East Asia this week, as he typically does around the time of the Lunar New Year, a person familiar with the situation said.

Jensen Huang has other plans that day, but Nvidia has already made efforts to curry favor with the president-elect.
