NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police are investigating two detectives who worked security at an upscale Manhattan townhouse where a man says he was kidnapped and tortured for weeks by two crypto investors who wanted to steal his Bitcoin, a city official said Thursday.

NBC New York obtained exclusive video that shows the torture victim running down the street after his escape, 17 days into captivity, and seeking help from a police officer.

One off-duty detective drove the alleged victim from the airport to the SoHo townhouse on May 6, sources told ABC News.

The NYPD officer who was badly beaten and robbed last weekend in the Bronx was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

In what was a brutal sequence of events that occurred in the wee hours of May 25, where off-duty NYPD officer Chowdhury Nafees was severely beaten and robbed by two masked men in the Bronx, four days later there is some positive news to share.

A second suspect wanted in connection to a violent attack and robbery of an off-duty NYPD officer in the Bronx was taken into custody, according to law enforcement sources.
