Sudden floods triggered by heavy rains have killed more than 400 people across parts of Pakistan, India-administered Kashmir and Nepal, authorities have said, with scores of people still missing.
Entire villages were swept away as torrential rain caused deadly flash floods and landslides in India-controlled Kashmir and northern Pakistan. Dramatic video shows the devastation in the neighboring countries as the death toll is expected to rise.
Around 200 people were killed in a single day amid flashfloods and cloudbursts in multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The death toll continued to climb on Saturday as rescuers pulled bodies from the debris and rain continued to lash the region.
Heavy rainfall that triggered floods in Pakistan in recent weeks, killing hundreds of people, was worsened by human-caused climate change, according to a new study.
A helicopter carrying relief goods for rain-hit areas crashed due to bad weather killing two pilots and three others in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Friday. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's MI-17 helicopter had taken off from Peshawar for Bajaur when contact was lost over Mohmand tribal district, according to initial reports.
