While Martin Luther King Jr. Day is meant to celebrate the birth of Dr. King, the federal holiday is observed on the third Monday in January, regardless of the date on which that day falls.

Note: Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birth home is also on-site, but it is closed through November 2025 for refurbishment. Most agree a trip to Atlanta must include time spent at this historical park.
