Starbucks customers have been taking to social media to express their thoughts about a major change. It appears that, for some coffee fans, their local cafes have changed their cups for iced drinks: The clear plastic vessels have been swapped out for compostable cups and lids.

The scribbles on cups are part of a slew of changes orchestrated by Chief Executive Officer Brian Niccol to turn things around. Niccol, who started at Starbucks in September, is seeking to make the company’s thousands of coffee shops more of a destination again, including new ceramic mugs for dine-in customers and macchiato art.

Starbucks is implementing yet another change in 2025 — this time to its mobile ordering system. In an attempt to speed up service, the coffee company is decreasing the number of maximum number of items customers can order online from 15 to 12,
