The Carolina Hurricanes are one win away from advancing to Round 2 of the 2025 NHL Playoffs. On Sunday afternoon (April 27), the Hurricanes defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-2 to take a 3-1 series lead in Round 1.

Devils ’ winger Timo Meier, in an attempt to cut-off a pass in the crease, ended up trucking Carolina goalie Frederik Andersen. Andersen fell flat back into the net, and play was stopped so a trainer could tend to the veteran goalie. Not long after, he left Game 4 during the second period with an undisclosed injury.
