Prosecutors say the death toll in the attack on a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg last month has risen to six as a woman succumbed to her injuries.

A 52-year-old woman has died in hospital from injuries sustained in last month's Christmas market attack in Magdeburg, Germany, bringing the death toll to six, prosecutors have announced. The victim succumbed to injuries received when a car was deliberately driven through crowds of shoppers at the festive market on December 20.

Officials say five people have been killed, including a 9-year-old, after a Saudi doctor drove into a Christmas market teeming with holiday shoppers in the German city of Magdeburg on Friday.

The suspect, identified by local media as 50-year-old Taleb A., was arrested after plowing a black BMW into a Christmas market.
