ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit has been a fixture for the network's college football coverage for nearly three decades. Herbstreit, who is ESPN's bona fide voice of college football, wears many hats these days.

Herbstreit, who appears on “Thursday Night Football” alongside Al Michaels for Prime Video, has appeared on “College GameDay” in addition to calling college football games on Saturdays for ESPN.

In a recent interview on On3's "Andy and Ari" podcast, Herbstreit revealed that he was close to leaving the show after he joined Al Michaels on "Thursday Night Football" as a part of Amazon's deal in 2022.

With the crew of ESPN College GameDay in Pasadena, California at the Rose Bowl for the matchup between Ohio State and Oregon, that still doesn’t dull down the impact of the rest of the College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchups, which includes Notre Dame vs. Georgia and Texas vs. Arizona State.

By the end of the week, we'll know the two teams that are playing for college football's national championship this season. Two semifinal games are on tap for the College Football Playoff, and the winners will advance to Atlanta for the biggest game of the year on January 20.
