Police say a man has been shoved onto New York City subway tracks ahead of an oncoming train and is critically injured.

A 23-year-old man faces attempted murder and assault charges after he allegedly pushed another man onto New York City subway tracks as a train approached, police say.

The accused, identified as 23-year-old Kamel Hawkins, was charged with attempted murder and second-degree assault for pushing the commuter onto the tracks in New York City's 18th Street station on Tuesday.

Authorities have identified the woman who burned to death after she was set on fire inside a New York City subway train as 57-year-old Debrina Kawam. At a news conference, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Kawam,

The woman, Debrina Kawam, had a New Jersey address, according to NYPD. Kawam died on Dec. 22 after being set on fire while inside a New York subway train.

A woman who died after being set on fire on a New York City subway train this month has been identified, according to police. The woman was named as Debrina Kawam, 57, of Toms River, New Jersey, the New York Police Department said.
