Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday announced he is replacing Marco Rubio in the Senate with the state's attorney general, Ashley Moody.

The Florida attorney general has been a faithful foot soldier to Governor Ron DeSantis — and President-elect Donald Trump.

Moody, the state's attorney general, is Gov. Ron DeSantis’ pick to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, who is poised to be the next Secretary of State for President-elect Donald J. Trump. The move is the latest in a carousel of seat hopping among Florida Republicans as Trump leaned heavily on Sunshine State hires to staff his incoming administration.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis announced Thursday that Florida GOP attorney general Ashley Moody will fill the Senate seat vacated by Senator Marco Rubio, who is expected to be confirmed in the coming days as President-elect Donald Trump’s secretary of state.

Moody, an ally of the governor, said she looked forward to carrying out the Trump agenda.
