2025 is shaping up to be a banner year for the Man of Steel as director James Gunn's tentpole "Superman" feature film is streaking towards lucky cinemas this summer faster than a speeding bullet.

James Gunn's Superman movie is still months away from its theatrical release, but the DC Studios boss already has a big update on his next DCU film.

Superman Unlimited will kick off May 21, and will be set up with a “Zero Issue” in DC’s Free Comic Book Day issue on May 3. According to DC, the “Summer of Superman” will include ongoing and limited books for fellow Supers like Supergirl, Superboy, and Krypto.

It's undeniably a stark contrast to the last couple of big-screen takes on the character, particularly the Snyderverse's dark and grim version, but that's exactly why Gunn seems to be making all the right moves with his film.

Fans are especially curious about upcoming DC movies, which will take place in a brand new shared universe created by co-CEO James Gunn. That acclaimed filmmaker is already writing his post- Superman DC Project,

While he is busy working on the post-productions on 'Superman' and 'Peacemaker', James Gunn is now "pre-writing [his] next DC Studios project".
