"Patchy dense fog has developed in the Tennessee Valley, reducing visibilities to a quarter of a mile in some areas. Visibility will start improving by 9 a.m. When traveling this morning slow down and use caution. Give yourself extra room between you and the vehicle ahead of you," states the NWS. This alert is in effect until 9:30 a.m.

NWS is warning drivers to add extra time to their commute as dense fog will lower visibilities Friday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 7 a.m. on Saturday for dense fog until 10 a.m. for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman counties.
