The identity of the Freeburg man who after he stepped out onto the roadway in the 4900 block of Illinois 13 on Tuesday, has been released. Dale Blanford, 35, was struck by an oncoming vehicle, according to Illinois State Police. He was transported to Saint Louis University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A man, 35, from Freeburg died when he was hit by an SUV on Tuesday night on Route 13, the Illinois State Police said.

State Police Troop 8 responded to the single-vehicle fatal traffic crash at 10:29 p.m. The driver of the vehicle was a 31-year-old woman from Freeburg, according to police. She reported no injuries at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

The man struck by the Jeep was a 35-year-old Freeburg resident. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.
