A homeowner in the North Lake neighborhood of Castaic describes what he witnessed as the Hughes Fire moved closer to his home.

A new wildfire that erupted in northern Los Angeles County triggered tens of thousands of evacuation orders and warnings.

Crews were working to gain the upper hand on the Hughes Fires that broke out in Castaic. Many evacuation orders and warnings remain in place.

Dangerous conditions continue to develop in San Diego County, with red flag warnings and strong winds increasing the wildfire threat. The National Weather Service issued red flag warnings until 8 p.m.

The Hughes Fire grew quickly overnight and was dubbed an "immediate threat to life" by the California Fire Department.
