A major winter storm system across Missouri and Kansas this weekend is set to dump heavy snow across the central plains through early next week, the National Weather Service said, with as much as a foot of snow possible in Illinois.

(WAND Weather) —Central Illinois' first big snowstorm of the season exited Monday morning. Moderate to heavy snow fell across much of the area Sunday morning through early Monday.
