The contest dragged into extras. In the top of the 10th, the Padres failed to score despite having an automatic runner on second base and the top of their lineup up to bat. In the bottom of the 10th, the bottom of the Yankees’ order delivered a sacrifice bunt and then a walk-off sacrifice fly.

Dylan Cease was dominant for six innings. Cody Bellinger homered into the second deck in right field on an 0-2 fastball clocked at 98 mph with one out in the seventh for New York's first hit. Cease then struck out Anthony Volpe and got ahead 1-2 in the count against Jasson Domínguez before manager Mike Shildt and a Padres athletic trainer went to the Yankee Stadium mound.

While the San Diego Padres were on the receiving end of a walk-off by the New York Yankees on Wednesday night, losing 4-3 in 10 innings, it’s important not to forget about the performance of pitcher Dylan Cease.
