Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has set a new record ahead of its digital release, becoming the highest-grossing of the entire series.

The news comes in the wake of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 becoming the highest installment in the franchise with $218.8M domestic, $422.3M worldwide. The entire SEGA branded feature franchise counts $1.1 billion at the global box office.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has set its release date just days after the franchise's third instalment broke a new record. Deadline reports that the fourth film will land in cinemas on March 19, 2027, a week before the Easter holiday weekend.
