South Korea’s impeached president denied Tuesday that he ordered the military to drag lawmakers out of the National Assembly to prevent them from voting to reject his martial law decree last month, as he appeared for the first time before the Constitutional Court that will determine his fate.

SEOUL -- South Korea's detained President Yoon Suk Yeol attended a hearing at the Constitutional Court on Tuesday, defending himself over his declaration of a short-lived martial law in early December.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is expected to make his first appearance at his impeachment trial on Tuesday, with security ramped up following the Capitol Hill-like rioting during his appearance at another court at the weekend.
