Erin is expected to produce heavy rainfall through the weekend across the northern Leeward Islands, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Erin became a Category 3 hurricane in the Caribbean early Saturday and is expected to strengthen further during the day, the National Hurricane Center reported.

Erin is expected to become a strong Category 3 storm with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph in five days, according to the National Hurricane Center.
