Parent Choice programs are different from Magnet programs in that Parent Choice Programs are designed for and first offered to students who are assigned to the school site boundary.

The Magnet Schools application period for the 2025-2026 school year was from October 1st, 2024 until January 15th, 2025.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools offers a wide variety of curriculum choices. Magnet and Parent Choice schools/programs allow you to elect out of an assigned boundary school. These programs specialize in a specific area of interest and offer our students the opportunity to grow to their fullest potential starting as young as four years old.

After boundary students are placed, any remaining seats are offered to out-of-boundary students through the online Choice application process. Choice programs are thematic, curriculum-based offerings available at all grade levels and conducted during regular school hours. After-school programs are not included in the Choice application options.

Once you have agreed to attend a Magnet program, the only school you may choose to transfer your child to is your official home school of record. Students wishing to change Magnet programs or schools must re-apply, qualify, and be offered placement for the new Magnet program during the regular Magnet application cycle.
