I know ultimately the decision is up to me, but, I'm curious what you would do. Currently running a 3080 Ti, great card but does have a tough time keeping up with my 1440 OLED 240 hz monitor at max refresh rate for most games. Tough decision for me honestly without much information on what the 50 series will bring, but at $999 I'm really considering going the 4080 super route

A gtx 1080 was $599usd msrp. The rtx 2080 was $699usd msrp. 3080 was also supposed to be $699, the 12gb version was 799 msrp. 4080 released at $1199usd msrp. Unless inflation magically disappears by 50 series launch or something else changes considerably, I wouldn't bet on the speculated 5080 being $200 less.

Dec 13, 2023 · The reason I bought an i7 14700K now is because I wanted to make it easier for myself to pay for an RTX 5080 next year, otherwise I would have to spend a huge amount of money for everything (motherboard + ram + cpu + gpu). Obviously no one knows how RTX 50 series or Arrow Lake will be like, I just wanted to get some opinions and speculate a little.

So, as the title says, I’m thinking about upgrading. My current 3080 is hitting its limits with 4k gaming on AAA titles like Avatar. I was going to get a 5080 regardless if the 999 price point holds.
